A Venetian Night of Elegance: The Debutantes’ Ball Returns to Venice

The timeless elegance of Venice provided the spectacular setting for a truly memorable Debutantes’ Ball, bringing together young members of distinguished families from across Europe for an evening devoted to tradition, music, beauty and international friendship.

The event was conceived by conductor and artistic director Silvia Casarin Rizzolo, who launched the project in collaboration with the City of Venice and the historic Teatro La Fenice, creating a celebration in which the extraordinary heritage of Venice became part of the ceremony itself.

One of the most evocative moments took place inside the magnificent Doge’s Palace, where the young debutantes received their ceremonial coronation in an atmosphere inspired by the history and splendour of the Venetian Republic. The ceremony featured the figures of the Doge and Dogaresa, alongside the Emperor and Empress, who formally opened the Debutantes’ Ball.

Dressed in exquisite white gowns, the young debutantes created an almost theatrical tableau against the grandeur of the palace — a beautiful meeting of contemporary European society and the traditions of Venice.

The celebrations continued in St Mark’s Square, where the young participants performed the traditional waltz before an enthusiastic public. With Venice providing a breathtaking backdrop, the square became an open-air stage celebrating elegance, youth and the enduring romance of the city.

Following the performance, the young guests departed for Teatro La Fenice aboard traditional Venetian gondolas, adding another unforgettable chapter to an already extraordinary evening.

Inside the historic theatre, the celebrations continued with a formal dinner in its magnificent salons. The evening concluded with a glamorous Bridgerton-inspired after-party, bringing a contemporary and playful touch to the aristocratic atmosphere of the occasion.

Representing the young European participants as official Ambassadors were Baron Vincent von Preuschen of Germany and Donna Elisa Caterina Egger of Italy. Their roles reflected the international spirit of the occasion and the importance placed on creating connections between a new generation of young Europeans.

More than a social occasion, the Venetian Debutantes’ Ball offered a celebration of culture, music, heritage and friendship, bringing together young people from different countries in one of the world’s most extraordinary cities.

Against the backdrop of palaces, gondolas, music and the illuminated beauty of Venice, the evening felt like a journey between past and present a modern European celebration written in the language of timeless Venetian elegance.
