How Irina Lungu creates timeless spaces for a global private clientele
In a design industry often driven by trends and visibility, IL Architecture has built its reputation through a quieter approach: precision, restraint, and deeply personal design.
From private residences and complex renovations to hospitality projects and superyacht interiors, the studio operates across Paris, Monaco, the Riviera, the Middle East, and Asia — delivering spaces where elegance feels effortless and every detail is intentional.
In conversation with Relentless, founder Irina Lungu discusses timeless architecture, the discipline behind high-value bespoke projects, and why true luxury is ultimately about clarity, trust, and how a space makes people feel.
Your clients value discretion, excellence, and long-term quality. How does that shape your work?
Those priorities define every project from the beginning. Our clients are not looking for spectacle — they are looking for clarity, comfort, and spaces that will continue to feel right over time.

Whether it’s a private residence, a renovation, or a turnkey project, the goal is always the same: to create environments that feel effortless, personal, and quietly resolved.
Real luxury comes from intelligent decisions, strong execution, and a process that gives clients complete peace of mind.
How do you create work that feels timeless rather than trend-driven?
Timelessness comes from rigor, not fashion.
We focus on proportion, light, circulation, material integrity, and the details that shape everyday living.
I avoid decorative gestures that date quickly. Instead, we create spaces with lasting depth — layouts that function beautifully, materials that age well, and a design language rooted in the client rather than a passing trend. The result should feel natural, not forced.
Your projects range from private homes to superyachts. What does that level of work demand?
Projects at this level require far more than a strong concept. They demand structure, precision, and exceptional collaborators.
Built Beyond Trends
How Irina Lungu creates timeless spaces for a global private clientele
Whether working on a residence, hospitality project, or yacht interior, success depends on disciplined coordination and careful planning.
Clients are not simply commissioning design — they are trusting someone to simplify complexity and deliver excellence with calm authority.

What defines a truly premium architectural experience today?
A premium experience begins with understanding how a client actually lives — how they host, relax, move through a space, and where they need privacy.
But it’s also about how the process feels. Clients should never feel overwhelmed by decisions or coordination. My role is to reduce friction, anticipate problems early, and make the entire experience feel seamless from beginning to end.
Your current superyacht project in Southeast Asia is highly technical. What makes these environments unique?
Superyacht projects demand elegance and technical performance at the same time. Every element must work visually, structurally, and functionally.

Climate, logistics, sourcing, and technical integration all add complexity, especially across international projects. But that precision is also what makes them rewarding.
When every detail is carefully resolved, the final result feels effortless.
As IL Architecture expands internationally, how do you maintain the studio’s identity?
By staying selective and consistent. Authority is built through delivery, not visibility alone.
Across private residences, hospitality spaces, and yacht environments, the standard remains the same: personal involvement, trusted collaborators, exacting execution, and complete discretion. Clients may live differently across Paris, Monaco, or Asia, but they all value privacy, fluency, and trust.
Beyond architecture, you are also involved in charitable initiatives internationally. Why is that important to you?
Architecture shapes how people experience daily life, so I believe it carries a responsibility beyond aesthetics.
I’ve supported several charitable initiatives, including collaborations with the Singapore Chamber of Commerce, the French Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, Fight Aids Monaco, Écoute Cancer Réconfort, and fundraising projects in Luxembourg.
These engagements reflect the same values that guide the studio: seriousness, discretion, and human awareness.
