Gran Hotel Taoro Opens Sandára Wellness Centre, Completing Landmark Renovation 

A new immersive wellness sanctuary overlooking the Orotava Valley and the Atlantic Ocean 

 Gran Hotel Taoro, the historic landmark hotel in northern Tenerife, has completed the final phase of its three-year renovation with the opening of Sandára Wellness Centre, offering guests an additional space dedicated to relaxation, restoration and holistic wellbeing, with exclusive treatments by Anne Semonin. 

Architecturally, Sandára Wellness Centre draws inspiration from Tenerife’s volcanic landscape. Natural materials, mineral tones and organic textures create a calm, immersive atmosphere, while softly lit treatment rooms and volcanic-stone-inspired finishes add warmth and depth. The relaxation area opens onto uninterrupted views of the Orotava Valley, while a bespoke mural by Canarian artist, Ione Domínguez, reinforces the connection to the island and to the local community. 

Designed to be a calm, sensory retreat, Sandára Wellness Centre’s relaxation area includes a sauna, steam room and experience showers, which overlook the hotel’s gardens and natural landscape beyond. The centre also features three individual treatment rooms and two spacious double rooms, allowing for personalised wellness and beauty rituals, either individually or as shared experiences. Partnering exclusively with French skincare house Anne Semonin, Gran Hotel Taoro is one of the only venues in Tenerife to offer the brand, alongside Abama Hotels which are under the same management. With more than 35 years of international expertise, Anne Semonin is known for its bespoke approach, combining essential oils, trace elements and marine active ingredients. Each treatment will begin with a personalised skin diagnosis, followed by tailor-made formulations adapted to individual needs. 

The treatment menu includes specialised facials focused on hydration, decongestion and rejuvenation, alongside advanced protocols incorporating cryotherapy, illuminating and firming serums, and customised oil and mineral complexes. Premium treatments are also available, with the use of precious powders and pearls, designed to deliver anti-ageing benefits and an immediate lifting effect. 

A comprehensive selection of Anne Semonin body treatments complete the offering, combining exfoliation, wraps and firming rituals with an extensive massage programme. Therapies range from 

holistic practices such as Bioenergetic, Balinese and Ayurvedic massage, to therapeutic options including deep tissue, sports massage, physiotherapy and prenatal massage. A signature highlight is the Canarian Ritual, which uses locally inspired ingredients such as banana oil and volcanic stones to deliver a distinctly destination-led experience. 

With holistic wellbeing in mind, Sandára Wellness Centre is also home to a state-of-the-art gym equipped with Technogym cardio and strength equipment, all overlooking the hotel’s gardens. Outdoor yoga and Pilates sessions will also take place on the adjacent lawn, reinforcing the connection between movement, landscape and wellbeing. 

The Wellness Centre opening follows the recent launch of the hotel’s special concept restaurants OKA and LAVA, led respectively by Michelin-starred chefs Ricardo Sanz and Erlantz Gorostiza ; marking the completion of the hotel’s guest amenities, and strengthening Gran Hotel Taoro’s position as a contemporary destination rooted in heritage, gastronomy, wellness and connection to the local environment. 

Treatments last between 45 minutes to 2 hours. The Canarian Ritual is priced from 150 euros.
