Liz Brewer’s Social Season

Summer’s social season has been in full swing, with a wonderful calendar of events that began, as always, with the highlight of the British sporting and social calendar—Royal Ascot.

This year’s meeting was especially memorable, with Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla attending throughout the week despite the King’s ongoing treatment. It was also wonderful to see the Princess of Wales make her first Royal Ascot appearance in three years, joining Prince William and the Royal Family for the famous Royal Procession.

Alongside the racing, Ascot once again celebrated the very best of British tradition, style and society.

As always, the week was as much about catching up with friends as watching the action on the track. I enjoyed several gatherings in the Royal Enclosure, including time in Pat Doherty’s hospitality with his son John Paul Doherty, where I learned more about Harcourt Developments’ impressive Royal Haslar Waterfront Village project. It was also a pleasure to spend time with many familiar faces from London’s social and business circles.

Back in London, I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating at the prestigious Reform Club the book launch of ‘FROM DEPENDENCY TO FREEDOM’ by Nursultan Nazarbayev. Joining Andrew Eborn aboard a barge on the Thames for an interview for Octopus TV. It certainly made for a memorable setting—and required rather better sea legs than I expected!

Another highlight was Lady Colin Campbell’s White Tie & Tiara Ball at beautiful Castle Goring in aid of Care for Veterans. It was a glamorous evening bringing together friends and supporters for a wonderful charitable cause.

A visit to Beaulieu’s National Motor Museum followed for the unveiling of the magnificent Rolls-Royce Phantom VII, generously donated by Sir Michael Kadoorie and now displayed in the museum’s new DRIVEN Gallery—a fitting celebration of British automotive heritage.

The social calendar continued with Petros Botic’s launch of Glamikaze Production House 30 Pavilion Road, in Knightsbridge, where a nineteenth-century-inspired masquerade ball provided a spectacular backdrop.

The month concluded at Hurlingham’s elegant Concours d’Elegance. Despite the unpredictable British weather, it was a delightful evening spent with friends, providing the perfect finale to another memorable month on London’s social scene.

As ever, the season has been filled with royal occasions, charitable events and fascinating people—proof that London’s social calendar continues to be as vibrant as ever.
