THE CALL OF THE VOID

By Dame Cristina Vittoria Egger

When I sat down with Daniel Roseberry to discuss Schiaparelli’s Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2026–2027 collection, he spoke candidly about the creative uncertainty that shaped this season. Following a collection that felt like a defining success, he found himself confronting an unexpected challenge: how to move forward without relying on a formula.

“Formulas are the opposite of creation,” he told me. That belief became the foundation of The Call of the Void, a collection built on intuition, risk, and the courage to embrace the unknown. It is a philosophy deeply connected to Elsa Schiaparelli’s legacy, where Surrealism was never an escape from reality, but a way of revealing hidden truths and unexplored possibilities.

Throughout our conversation, what struck me most was Roseberry’s desire to redefine luxury itself. Traditional couture techniques are paired with unconventional materials such as latex, silicone, and sculptural surfaces, creating silhouettes that exist somewhere between fantasy and reality. The result is a body of work that feels both experimental and exquisitely crafted.

Nature serves as a recurring inspiration, from floral constructions and marine references to jewelry and accessories that blur the line between ornament and art. Every detail contributes to a vision that is bold, unexpected, and unmistakably Schiaparelli.

More than a couture collection, The Call of the Void is an invitation to surrender certainty and trust the creative process. As Roseberry shared with me, the most meaningful discoveries often emerge when we allow ourselves to step into the unknown.
