By Cristina Egger. Photography by Tobias Joest.
For more than three decades, Tobias Joest has lived his life with a camera in hand and an unshakable devotion to the art of photography. He is not merely a documentarian of events—he is a man whose passion transforms fleeting moments into timeless stories.
On the red carpet, Tobias finds his true stage. Rain, wind, glaring sun, or the endless rush of flashing lights nothing keeps him from standing in the very eye of the storm, ready to capture that unrepeatable instant. For him, the red carpet is not just glamour; it is a living theatre where ambition, artistry, and humanity collide. Each click of his shutter is an act of faith: that beneath the polished gowns and sculpted smiles lies a soul waiting to be revealed.

“Photographers on the red carpet are artists,” Tobias says. “We don’t just capture a dress or a shade of lipstick we capture the spirit of a person in a single frame.”

Being present at international festivals, day and night, is both a privilege and a relentless challenge. It is a life lived on the edge of fatigue, adrenaline, and anticipation. Yet, when the day ends and Tobias opens his camera, scrolling through the gallery of faces triumphant, weary, radiant, or unguarded he knows why he is there.

What he sees is more than just photographs. Each image is a mirror of truth, a glimpse into humanity in its most exposed form. In those moments, Tobias becomes more than a photographer; he becomes a reader of souls, translating fleeting emotions into enduring art.
